Briaan Mott

SENIOR CONSULTANT

OVERVIEW

Brian Mott has had thirty years of professional involvement in the sport and recreation industry. The last eleven years he has been the General Manager Major Projects with Sport and Recreation Victoria. In that time he had wide-ranging experiences in the development and management of events and public infrastructure projects, negotiation of strategic partnerships, feasibility studies, facility planning and design and co-ordination of Government services.

His experience includes lead roles in projects such as Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre, MCG Redevelopment and the State Netball and Hockey Centre Royal Park, 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games and more than twenty other international sporting events.

He has led a team that oversees the State Government's investment in major events and facilities. A critical component of the role has been supporting the work of the internationally acclaimed Victorian Major Events Company in securing events for the state which reap an economic benefit of more than $1.2 billion annually.

Prior to the Major Project's role he has worked in senior Government roles in Sport, Community Recreation development and Facility Planning as well as Executive Director of Netball Victoria and VicSwim.

His key strengths are in business development, event and project management, staff and program management, strategic and capital works planning and policy development. He has a keen interest in planning facilities and events that provide long lasting legacies for the community and are sustainable from an economic, environmental and social perspective.

Brian has been fortunate to have been involved from beginning to delivery and evaluation of some of the most successful events staged in Australia. This has provided a solid knowledge base to assess the key drivers of success and an acute awareness of the decision-making process at all levels of Government and sporting sector.

QUALIFICATIONS

Diploma of Physical Education - Melbourne University.

Trained Secondary Teachers Certificate - State College of Victoria.

Bachelor of Education (Planning and Consultancy) - Latrobe University.

Bachelor of Applied Science (Human Movement) - Phillip Institute of Technology (RMIT).

Certificates of Project Management and Service Marketing.
